I went to the pound store on my street a couple of days ago, and I was looking for some fairy lights to put up in the cellar. I have a work studio down there, but it is a bit dingy even with additional lamps. I thought fairy lights would brighten the place up and not cost the earth. I was sadly mistaken.

I bought a box of 20 led lights, for £3.99 (not exactly a pound store. It's actually called "MOSTLY 99p" which I find hilarious.) when I got them home they didn't work. So I returned them, and swapped them for another box, and plugged them in only to find that they didn't work either! When I returned them for a second time, I said I just wanted my money back. But the shop assistant said he couldn't refund me!
So now I have just lost £4, on a packet of crappy lights I can't use. What I should have done is spent £30 and got some really cool dimmable led gu10bulbs instead, that will last me a lot longer and be brighter.
I suppose it serves me right for expecting good's from the "Mostly 99p" store to actually work.
